GENESIS

Kendriya Vidyalaya Nagrota situated at the bank of River ‘Tawi’ at the foothills of Shivalik range of Himayayas, in the lush green campus of Nagrota cantonment. Established in 1979, it is serving the nation with great zeal. It is a three section Vidyalalya having all the three streams and having 1400 students. It is affiliated to CBSE.

On the momentous occasion of Foundation Day 2024 of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), I extend my heartfelt greetings to each one of you. From its humble beginnings in 1963, KVS has grown into an inspiring institution of excellence in school education. This remarkable journey continues to evolve, driven by an unwavering spirit of innovation and progress.

We must have life-building, human-building, character-building, assimilation of ideas. “— Swami Vivekananda The eternal words given above define an autonomous body under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan- Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. KVS is a vibrant and premier educational institution in the field of quality school education. The KVS Jammu region was established in 1984 and has current jurisdiction over 38 KVs located in Jammu and Kashmir, with a dedicated, well-equipped and committed team of effective management and teachers for the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of the students. Under its working in the same direction, a galaxy of multidisciplinary curricular activities are organized on a regular basis to bring out the best in students. ‘All round personality development’ is an important focus area to enable our students to march with the ever changing world of technology and globalization. We believe in inclusive education with principle “to inspire the weak, to address the average and challenge the gifted children”. We are proud to help our students develop into the next generation dutiful, sensitive and responsible citizens. Our students have achieved many milestones in the past and I sincerely hope that this quest for excellence and achievements will continue in the future as well.

As a parent, you want the best for your child and we are proud to be working with you to ensure that they are given the right knowledge to face the future challenges. Parents, students and the school authorities are a team and we have to complement each other’s efforts. At Kendriya Vidyalaya Nagrota, we focus on complete development of our students by involving them in both scholastic & co-scholastic activities. I am sure this will help our children to realize, understand & explore their talents. In order to do this, the parents and the school authorities must work together to inculcate certain values in the students. “Sound body has a Sound Mind.” Let us allow our children to develop physically & mentally. Children learn a lot of values when they are involved in Sports & Games. Some of these life skills & values cannot be taught in the classroom or at home. Kendriya Vidyalaya Nagrota provides enough opportunities for the children to participate in Sports & games. “If a plant is carefully nurtured by a gardener, it will become good, and produce better fruits.” Therefore, children must be given a good training from their earliest childhood. We are here for the same.
